Me & Roboco is a Japanese anime manga television series that follows the adventures of a boy named Roboco and his robot companion. The show was created by Sunrise’s Animation Studio, which also produced Cowboy Bebop and Mobile Suit Gundam.
On October 5th, 2018, the first season started airing on Tokyo MX in Japan. Simulcasts were available for viewing online via Hulu and Crunchyroll. The first season consists of 50 episodes divided into six different arcs: Head Start Arc, First Leg Tournament Arc, Second Leg Tournament Arc, Third Leg Tournament Arc, Fourth Leg Tournament Arc, and Fifth Leg Tournament Arc.
Storyline
When Kaito’s mom is suddenly too busy to take care of him, Kaito befriends an old robot named Roboco, and they become best friends. The story is about a boy named Kaito. He is a lonely kid and has no friends. His other mates bully him at school. He escapes from his problems by drawing robots.
He finds a mysterious robot in his basement and names it “Roboco” one day. Roboco tells him that Kaito’s father created him, but after the accident, he lost memory of everything, including his name, until now when he meets Kaito again for the first time since then.
Cast
- Yumemi Hoshino (Played by Yuki Kaji) – A 15 years old girl who is a high school student who is interested in robotics.
- Roboco (Played by Ayane Sakura) – A robot that Yumemi and her father built to help around their home.
- Naomi Tanizaki (Played by Mikako Komatsu) – A friend of Yumemi’s acting strangely in recent days. Tsukasa Kondo (Played by Ryunosuke Kamiki) – A young man being chased after many people for unknown reasons but decides to live with Naomi after meeting her for the first time.
- Yumemi’s Father (Unknown role name)- The father of Yumemi died when she was young, which caused her mother to be depressed until he came back from his trip.
Conclusion
As a fan of Cowboy Bebop and Mobile Suit Gundam, the story is written by Yoshiyuki Tomino, well-known for his work on both of the two titles above. If you are familiar with his work, you will notice that RoboCo is vastly different from the type of anime he normally works on.
